Regional Championships A-level and groups

The regional championships were organised on February 8th in Kudelstaart. The competition was both for A-level and groups of A and B level.
The gymnasts of the category 3A and 2A competed together this morning. In the category 3A, the competition was won by Fleurine Menijn from de Badhoeve, closely followed by Tessa Rietbergen from Pax. This is a very good result for Tessa, who only competes for her first year in this category. Unfortunately, Michelle Tjon (Pax) kind of blew up her ball routine but she still managed to win the bronze medal. Demi Aarts also competed for Pax in 3A, she ended on a 4th place and her routine without apparatus even was good enough to get the second highest mark (after Michelle).

In the category 2A, Valerya Boeravkina (Pax) easily won the competition, including a beautiful ball routine. She scored more than 6.5 points over number two, Tilly van Schaik (Badhoeve). Roxanne Mooijekind, who already competed on Saterday in a international competition in Verviers (Belgium) ended on a 3rd place with only 0.125 in between.
In senior competition, four pax gymnasts participated; Maaike Hoogstede, Melanie Kap, Tessa Blommesteyn and I. I won the competition, although I made a lot of mistakes in my clubs and hoop routines. Maaike became second and Evelien van Rheenen (Badhoeve) won bronze. Tessa and Melanie, who also competed in Verviers, ended on a 6th and 7th place.

In the afternoon, the group competition started. It's really weird to do group and individual competitions on one day, after the fourth routine you feel like the competition is over but in fact it's only half way. Our group (1A) had to start with ribbon. We had a some big mistakes during the whole routine, ribbons lying on the floor and so. Hoop-ball was better as far as I've seen only the music installation was so slow that we had about 5 seconds left at the end of both routines - normally we're late. The group competing in category 2A (Valerya Boeravkina, Roxanne Mooijekind, Christel Grimbergen, Michelle Tjon and Martine Tromp) did a pretty good routine but with two big mistakes. The ended first, but with a very small difference with number two (Badhoeve). The 1A group ended first too by the way.
For the 3B group, this was their very first group competition, so it was really exciting. They did a quite good routine, they've really learnt a lot about group in the last few months. There was no other group in this category, so they automatically got the first place.
The groups in 2B and 1B consist of C-level girls, so it's really hard for them to beat the other groups with B-level gymnasts. They both ended on a second place.
